Iowa Ag Secretary Mike Naig is applauding USDA for the additional steps it’s taking to prevent African Swine Fever (ASF) from entering the U.S.
Naig says the effects of a foreign animal disease outbreak in Iowa would be devastating for the state’s producers.
USDA this week announced several actions including an expansion of arrival screenings at key U.S. commercial ports.
Naig says he also appreciates USDA’s continued collaboration with the Iowa Department of Ag to combat the introduction of ASF.
