Sen. John Barrasso (R, WY), chair of the Senate Environment & Public Works Committee, this week publicly encouraged President Trump to make acting EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler the permanent agency honcho. “Andrew Wheeler would make an excellent administrator,” Barrasso said at a committee hearing at which Wheeler appeared to provide insight to the committee’s oversight.
Wheeler’s first Capitol Hill appearance since he survived an ugly, politically frought confirmation process to become EPA deputy administrator, and just as former agency Administrator Scott Wheeler’s ethical and intellectual missteps finally caught up with him, Wheeler accorded himself well.
