Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb has proclaimed April 7-13 as Invasive Species Awareness Week in Indiana.
It costs the state millions
of dollars each year to prevent, monitor, and control invasive species. They
are also a threat to almost half of the native species listed as federally endangered.
Holcomb signed the
Terrestrial Plant Rule in March that will go into effect later this month. The
rule will ban the sale and distribution of 44 types of non-native or invasive
plants.
