Japan releases 2020 dairy import plan

Japan plans to decrease imports of nonfat dry milk.

Citing weak domestic demand for skim milk powder, the
Japanese government says imports will be reduced from 6,000 metric tons to
4,000 for fiscal year 2020.

The country does plan to maintain butter import volumes at
20,000 metric tons.

Japan is the fifth-largest export market for U.S. dairy, valued at over $20 million.
