Kansas Corn is supporting a pair of state bills that would help protect and preserve the regional water supply for the ag industry.
Incoming CEO Josh Roe says fully funding the state water plan is a priority. “From existing sales tax revenue and we really see that as a good opportunity for our producers on the western part of the state. There could be some additional cost-share funds for better irrigation technology.”
And, he tells Brownfield “On the Eastern Kansas side, paying off some reservoir debt (to) pay off and let the state funds help improve water quality as well.”
HB2278 would give additional authority to the Groundwater Management Districts and HB2302 helps provide additional funds for the state water plan.
