Across the Corn Belt, mostly dry weather is promoting corn and soybean maturation. Any showers, which are occurring in the vicinity of a weakening cold front, are confined to the upper Midwest. Like other areas of the nation’s mid-section, high temperatures later Friday will generally range from 70 to 80°F.
On the Plains, scattered showers from Nebraska and southeastern South Dakota to Texas are slowing fieldwork but locally boosting topsoil moisture. Meanwhile, dry weather has returned across much of the northern Plains, following Thursday’s light showers.
