Across the Corn Belt, cool weather lingers, especially in the eastern Great Lakes States, where Thursday’s high temperatures will broadly remain below 70°F. Scattered frost was noted early Thursday in the upper Great Lakes, particularly in northern sections of Minnesota and Wisconsin. Despite the turn toward cooler weather, U.S. corn and soybeans continue to mostly mature ahead of schedule; 31% of the latter crop was dropping leaves by September 10, versus the 5-year average of 25%.
