An ag lobbyist says the leaders of the House and Senate Agriculture Committees are still trying to figure out how to pay for updates in the new farm bill.
Randy Russell says in the House, Chairman Glenn “GT” Thompson has been trying to build consensus with other lawmakers on a solution.
“There’s no new money, so for any programs where updates are being requested, like title one, crop insurance or trade promotion programs, spending will have to be reduced in another area.”
He says there are still a few areas with funding available.
