Live cattle futures mostly higher to start the week

At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, live cattle were mostly higher, and feeders were lower ahead of the week’s direct cash business.  June live closed $1.27 higher at $173.32 and August lives closed $.92 higher at $170.90.  May feeder cattle closed $1.00 lower at $237.17 and August feeders closed $.37 lower at $248.25.

Direct cash cattle trade activity was quiet Monday. Showlists are mixed—higher in Texas but lower in Nebraska, Colorado, and Kansas. Bids and asking prices didn’t surface.
