At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, live cattle were higher, and feeders were mostly lower watching corn and waiting for direct business to develop. August live cattle closed $.05 higher at $181.32 and October lives closed $.17 higher at $183.72. August feeder cattle closed $1.20 lower at $246.80 and September feeders closed $.67 lower at $249.32.
It was a quiet Wednesday for direct cash cattle business. The lone bid to surface was in Nebraska at $291 dressed – that’s quite some distance from Wednesday’s asking prices in the North at $295 dressed.
