Lobbyist expecting farm bill release in late spring

An ag lobbyist says lawmakers in Washington D.C. will take a closer look at the new farm bill once the appropriations process has been completed at the end of March.

Randy Russell with the Russell Group tells Brownfield “I think the House will put out a farm bill for the committee to consider sometime following the Easter recess.”

Russell says he’s not expecting many hurdles as the U.S. House marks-up the new farm bill, but it might be a different story in the Senate.
