June Dairy Month is observed with many community breakfasts and dairy farm tours. Lloyd Gunter and his family in southwest Missouri are among the dairy farms hosting events. Gunter says he wants people to see what good management does and how it contributes to better production and an improved bottom line. On a 90-degree June day, the day of the Missouri Dairy Association-sponsored event, Gunter’s cows relax in the family’s new compost bedding pack barn enjoying mid-70-degree temperatures.
