Farmers electing to take prevented planting coverage this year are reminded to manage those acres well. Winfield United agronomist Jon Zuk covers Minnesota and says there were quite a few prevent plant acres in 2013, and farmers who didn’t have a crop growing on those soils paid for it. “We were able to see those lines show up on yield maps in 2014 and in 2015 where we didn’t have a growing crop in there.” He tells Brownfield most of the management decisions will depend on what’s already been done to those acres.
