Many farmers believe farm bill stalls until ’25

Many farmers believe they won’t see a new farm bill until sometime in 2025.

Cassandra Coball with the Torrey Advisory Group has been monitoring activity in Washington D.C. and tells Brownfield Congress is too preoccupied with funding the government to get much else done. “Congress is currently working on another extension for the time being to get us into March to fund the government so we have that going, so that’s going to take a lot of what we call the floor time, so that’s all of that action so it makes it difficult to bring up other bills that are going to need some time like for instance, the farm bill.”

Coball says with the one-year extension, lawmakers don’t feel as much pressure to get the farm bill done.
