Beyond Meat, the latest in plant-based protein products, is growing its production capacity. The company recently announced it would be adding a new facility in Columbia, Missouri to help meet the increase in demand for their products.
Texas A&M livestock economist David Anderson says meat-alternatives, like Beyond Meat, create additional competition for grill space and can ultimately pressure beef prices lower. “With an alternative choice that can be cheaper, I think we always ought to be concerned about those types of things,” he says.
