At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, cattle futures rebounded on short covering in light activity. Surging live cattle futures also drug feeder contracts higher. June live cattle closed $2.47 higher at $107.20 and August contracts closed $1.60 higher at $104.05. August feeder cattle closed $1.27 higher at $146.12 and September closed $1.75 higher at $147.35.
Direct cash cattle trade has been quiet with just a few scattered bids noted. Live bids in the South have been reported at $107 and dressed bids at $177.
