MFP certification deadline extended

USDA extended the deadline to certify 2018 crop production for

Market Facilitation Program payments. The Farm Service Agency extended the deadline

from May first to May 17th because rain and snow in many parts of

the country delayed harvest, preventing producers from certifying acres. The

payments help farmers affected by export losses because of tariffs.

The payments provide some relief from tariffs, helping producers through trade

issues, coupled with low commodity prices and natural disasters, said Richard

Fordyce, administrator of the Farm Service Agency.
