MFP2 helping farmers more

Michigan’s Farm Service Agency director says the second Market Facilitation Program has been better received by farmers impacted by trade disputes.

“This is paying producers higher than what the other program did.  It seems to be very positive as far as the reports coming from producers.”     

Joel Johnson tells Brownfield enrollments have been

consistent across Michigan.

“It doesn’t replace having extremely good markets which we’d all like to have, but what it does do is helps keep them around.”     

Enrollment is open through December 6th and farmers are eligible for county payments ranging from $15 to $67 per acre in Michigan or rates based on the production of hogs, dairy or specialty crops.
