Michigan produced a little less asparagus this year. The USDA says production was down 2% at 238-thousand hundredweight.
About 85-hundred acres were harvested for fresh market and processing, which is 500 acres less than last year. USDA officials say the value of the Michigan crop is almost 21-million dollars.
Production across the U.S. for asparagus was up 13%, but the harvest was down 11% from 2017.
