Michigan food and ag investment fund awards five new projects

The director of the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development says the latest grants to be awarded through the state’s Food and Agriculture Investment Program will continue to grow opportunities for farmers.

“If they can have a market that’s close by, it’s more money in their bottom line and it also helps our communities by just having a business that’s more established with more jobs in the community.”

Gary McDowell tells Brownfield the $630,000 approved this month will act as seed money to increase processing and use more of the state’s agricultural goods.
