Michigan’s poultry industry disappointed in governor’s veto

Michigan’s poultry industry has one more year to update facilities to meet cage-free standards after outgoing Governor Rick Snyder vetoed a bill that would have delayed requirements.

housing standards to 2025 which is critical to the sustainability of Michigan

egg farms.

Farmers were hoping to push the 2009 law back to better align

with requirements from Meijer, McDonalds and others who have committed to

sourcing cage-free eggs by 2025.
