Direct cash cattle trade activity remains quiet. Bids continue to be elusive. Asking prices are around $188 to $190 live in the South, but the North has not been established. Packer inquiry could start picking up as they day progresses, but significant trade volume will likely be delayed until late in the week, especially with Friday’s On Feed report.
Boxed beef is lower at midday on light demand for solid offerings. Choice is $.93 lower at $312.09 and Select was $.78 lower at $300.09. The Choice/Select spread is $12.
