Milder weather to return to much of the Heartland next week; a briefly drier pattern

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of below-normal temperatures in the southern Atlantic region and much of the North, while warmer-than-normal weather will prevail in many areas from the Pacific Coast to central and southern sections of the Rockies and High Plains.

Meanwhile, near- or above-normal precipitation across most of the country should contrast with drier-than-normal conditions in a few areas, mainly from Texas (excluding the northern panhandle) to western Florida and southwestern Georgia.
