A poor spring wheat crop in the Upper Midwest has stirred up
prices at the Minneapolis Grain Exchange.
University of Minnesota Extension grain marketing economist Ed Usset tells Brownfield Hard Red Spring Wheat futures are up more than 50 cents this month.
“Parts of the Spring Wheat Belt, particularly northwestern Minnesota and eastern North Dakota got too much rain at the wrong time. It’s hurting quality (and) going to hurt bushels too.”
He says a harvest rally is rare.
