High winds, hail, and torrential rains damaged crops and limited
fieldwork across Minnesota last week.
But the USDA says heat that accompanied those storms did help
crop development.
As of Sunday, 21 percent of corn has silked. That’s 10 days behind last year and a week
behind the five-year average.
The condition rating of corn decreased slightly to 57
percent good to excellent.
Nearly 50 percent of the soybean crop is blooming, and 60
percent is rated good to excellent.
