Minnesota corn planting 56% complete

Minnesota corn planting has crossed the halfway point but remains more than a week behind normal. The USDA crop progress report shows as of Sunday, 56 percent of intended corn acres have been planted. That’s three days behind a year ago and 10 days behind the five-year average. Soybeans are 22 percent planted, four days slower than last year and 11 days off the usual pace. Spring wheat planting is 76 percent complete, just two days behind normal.  But emergence, at 17 percent, is more than two weeks behind.
