Minnesota corn planting more than two weeks behind normal

A southwest Minnesota farmer says planting soybeans by Mother’s Day would be the best gift she could ask for this year.

Rochelle Krusemark of Trimont tells Brownfield her family was finally able to start planting corn this week.

“We strip-till, so we were making strips on the fields that we had injected manure on last fall.  And (we) started planting this morning and had a little trouble, but we’re rolling now.”

In nearly four decades of farming, she says few springs can compare to this one.
