Minnesota River tour brings water quality issues to the surface

A boat tour on the Minnesota River brought water quality and the importance of inland waterways to the surface Wednesday evening.

Minnesota Agricultural Water Resource Center director Warren Formo says the tour, hosted in part by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, is an opportunity to clear up some of the misplaced blame the agency has put on farmers.

“I think there’s too much emphasis on tile drainage. Certainly we know our tile drainage systems are aging, and we need to upgrade and modernize them.
