A friend of the court brief has been filed by 14 state Attorneys General supporting the repeal of the Obama Administrations’ organic livestock and poultry practices rule.
Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley says the 2017 rule would have imposed stringent requirements and the USDA did not have statutory authority to enact animal-welfare regulations about outdoor access “under the guise of regulating organic foods.” The brief says the rule would have had a negative economic impact on small organic farmers and consumers.
