The Executive Vice President of the Missouri Cattlemen’s Association says an amendment that’s been approved by the Missouri legislature is good for Missouri cattlemen and all of agriculture, “The legislation just clarifies DNR’s regulatory authority when it comes to storm water discharge. That’s the part of it that we’re most concerned with. When we say ‘storm water discharge’ we’re really talking about rain. And, currently, DNR has full authority to regulate storm water discharge on family farms and ranches.”
Mike Deering says the bill would change that and ensure that it’s not an EPA/WOTUS type problem on the state level, “This is high time we roll back the state as well to make sure that the regulatory authority is clear to both the agencies and is fair to the agencies as well as clear to the farm and ranch families that we represent.”
Deering says they’re hopeful Governor Greitens will sign the bill into law.
