Missouri’s U.S. Senators Claire McCaskill and Roy Blunt are requesting additional drought assistance from the USDA.
A joint statement from the senators said Missouri is in the worst period of drought since 2012 and farmers in parts of the state are already reporting record low yields.
McCaskill and Blunt are urging the USDA to approve requests for the release of CRP land for haying and grazing. The senators are also asking for approval of Missouri FSA’s request for permission to release CRP acres covered by other conservation practices to provide livestock producers with immediate access to feedstock.
