Governor Parson supports the efforts of the Missouri Soybean
Association urging Congress to have the lower Mississippi River dredged deeper
to allow for more exports of U.S. soybeans.
Casey Wasser, policy director with Missouri Soybean, says the goal is to dredge the river – from Baton Rouge to the Gulf of Mexico – five feet deeper, from 45 to 50 feet. Parson has written to the Army Corps of Engineers and Management and Budget Director Mike Mulvaney asking for their support, “And in his letter and in some things that we continue to
show, that 256 mile stretch of the Mississippi River counts for 60-percent of
