Soybeans were modestly higher on short covering and technical buying. The trade is watching weather, with dry conditions for parts of the U.S., most of Canada’s canola crop, and some palm oil areas of southeast Asia. According to several reports, a shipment of U.S. soybeans is headed to China, the first official shipment since the tariffs went into effect. Wire reports say Chinese soybean and meal prices were up sharply Wednesday on the reduced imports and concerns about a protracted trade conflict.
