The Missouri Department of Transportation is offering a special permit for hauling hay in the midst of the hay shortage caused by severe drought.
With the free permit farmers and ranchers will be able to haul hay loads of up to 12 feet, four-inches wide.
Drivers must apply for the special overwidth hauling permit for loads greater than eight feet, six inches in width. The department says they must route their path to avoid work zones, bridges and other restrictive areas.
