More late-season warmth, heat ahead for the Heartland; a largely dry pattern

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or above-normal temperatures nationwide, except for cooler-than-normal conditions from the lower Great Lakes region and Ohio Valley into the Northeast. 

Meanwhile, near- or below-normal rainfall in much of the central and eastern U.S. should contrast with wetter-than-normal weather in Maine, the southern Atlantic region, and the West.
