Potential Tropical Cyclone Sixteen will make landfall on Saturday along the North Carolina coastline, southwest of Cape Hatteras. Mid-Atlantic impacts should include rainfall of 2 to 6 inches or more; widespread tropical storm-force winds (39 mph or greater); and a 1- to 5-foot storm surge from the Carolinas to New Jersey.
Farther west, a slow-moving storm system over the nation’s mid-section will produce significant rainfall through the weekend before weakening.
Additional rainfall could reach 1 to 3 inches or more from Minnesota and the Dakotas southward to the Gulf Coast.
