The continuing resolution that passed the House earlier this week cleared the Senate on Wednesday and pending President Joe Biden’s signature, Congress has more time to write a new farm bill.
National Corn Growers Association President and Minnesota farmer Harold Wolle says an extension of the current farm bill is appreciated.
“It gives us some time to work on a full-reauthorization of a five-year farm bill and then, Congress can work on making improvements to the 2018 Farm Bill.”
He says corn farmers would still like to see updates to the farm safety net, including reference price increases…
“We’ll rely on Congress to find those dollars.”
Wolle says there are changes to the farm bill that can be made that aren’t as costly.
