Most Michigan crops still need rain

Another warm and dry week in Michigan left many farmers looking for rain.  USDA reporters say many northwestern and central lower peninsula counties experienced abnormally dry weather.

Oats are not in critical condition, but many growers report the crop under stress.

The second cutting of alfalfa and other hay is also short because of the lack of moisture.

Temperatures were a bit lower, which was good news for fruit growers.  Tart cherries are beginning to ripen in the northwestern part of the state.
