State University’s Institute of Agriculture Technology is celebrating 125 years
of providing practical ag training to students.
Director
Randy Showerman tells Brownfield the first short courses were developed for dairy
management and to process milk and cheese.
Today 13 certificate programs are available at 12 locations across the
state.
“The placement rate for our students is running in the 100 percent area with many of our students receiving three or four job offers.”
He says there’s a high demand for ag technicians, crop scouts, herd managers and in viticulture.
