Leaders from the US, Canada, and Mexico are meeting in DC this week to further negotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement.
US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer has said he wants to reach a new NAFTA deal soon. But, there are still unresolved issues including auto manufacturing in Mexico, which was the focus of talks Monday. The US wants to tighten rules of origin to boost domestic auto manufacturing.
Mexico’s economy minister has said they’ll be in the US as long as necessary this week.
