
Iowa Ag Secretary Mike Naig says farmers and ranchers need as much precipitation as they can get this winter.
“We have a lot that we need to restore just the soil profile to get ready for spring. We’ve got a lot of work to do and obviously need a lot of things to change.”
He says the drought is one of his biggest concerns heading into the 2024 growing season. “Here’s a record you don’t want to set,” he said, “180 consecutive weeks of at least D1 drought in the state of Iowa.
