Nebraska farmer says a approach to fertilizer application could help absorb high costs

A South-Central Nebraska farmer says he’s stretching inputs during the growing season to help avoid stick shock from record prices.

Andy Jobman of Gothenburg tells Brownfield split applying fertilizer can maximize nitrogen use efficiency. “That really spoon feeds that crop from start to finish and helps it be as efficient as possible.  I think operating in that kind of a mindset is really going to help guys this year versus management plans that throw it out there all at once.”

He says it can be a tedious process, but hopes it pays off at harvest.
