The USDA reports soil moisture in Nebraska saw a slight improvement from February to March, but farmers across the state continue to battle drought conditions as spring begins.
Topsoil moisture is considered 20% adequate, 43% short and 37% very short, only a slight improvement from February thanks to some scattered late March rains.
Meanwhile winter wheat conditions fell slightly month to month with the Nebraska crop rated 47% fair and 27% good to excellent.
