New cases of high-path AI bring Iowa’s fall total to 17

Two new cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza have been confirmed in Iowa.

The state’s department of agriculture says the affected sites in Woodbury County involve backyard mixed species flocks.

Ag Secretary Mike Naig tells Brownfield the number of cases this fall is nearing 20.

“Unfortunately I think we’re going to continue to see some positive cases here. We need the birds to migrate south, and certainly colder weather, snow, and some ice on some water will help push those birds south.
