New tools ease use of livestock disaster programs

The administrator of the USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) says new online resources increase accessibility to disaster aid for livestock producers.

Zach Ducheneaux tells Brownfield the Livestock Indemnity Program (LIP) Decision Tool serves as a translator.

“It takes our forms, restates it in a way that producers can resonate with it, and fill it out from there.”  He says, “And then the producer can come in with that printout for the LIP program, and that helps stimulate that conversation between that producer and our staff.”

He says the tool was developed through a cooperative agreement with data company, FarmRaise.
