The National Farmers Union wants the Trump administration’s next relief package for farmers impacted by trade retaliation from China to be reflective of all of agriculture. “We’re in our sixth consecutive year of depressed farm income. Folks are putting seeds in the ground right now and not really sure what markets are going to look like at the end of the year.” Government relations director Matt Perdue tells Brownfield they want to see payments on commodities that weren’t covered under market facilitation program payments last year like minor oil seeds and that there are no significant disparities between commodities.
