The National Milk Producers Federation says 2020 milk prices should be slightly better, but farmers aren’t expected to make a full recovery from recent years.
Economist Peter Vitaliano says he expects the futures prices to back off some from the November/December levels but still remain above 2019 levels by about a dollar per hundredweight.
“I think the story going forward, and we saw it emerging last year, cheddar cheese and nonfat dry milk are going to be what’s driving it.”
And, he says markets will react to swings in milk production.
