As of Sunday night, the North Carolina Pork Council says there are no reported breaches or overtopping of treatment lagoons from Hurricane Florence. Lagoon levels were low ahead of the storm’s arrival because of dry weather from late July to early September.
The Pork Council says waters have reached part of three farms but animals in those locations had been moved ahead of the storm and severe impacts are not expected to the vast majority of the more than 2-thousand permitted hog farms in North Carolina.
