Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R, KY) and Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D, NY) cut a deal this week to move a slate of judicial and executive nominations to Senate floor votes in exchange for a chamber recess earlier than expected. A third of the Senate bolted for the airport to resume campaigning to save their jobs. Of the 33 Senators up for reelection this year, 24 are Democrats, and 10 of those races are considered toss-ups as they’re in states won handily by President Trump in 2016.
