The USDA says poultry production during November was down 1% on the year at 3.946 billion pounds. Most of that was chicken at 3.466 billion pounds, 1% less than last year, with turkey and duck production both 6% lower at 469.233 million and 10.994 million pounds, respectively. The preliminary live weight of all poultry was 2% lower, including losses of 1% for chicken and 6% each for turkey and duck. The chicken slaughter of 720.644 million head was down 3% at, with turkey at 19.339 million head and duck at 2.099 million, a decrease of 7% for both.
